Fruits of the karpaz
Melon production is particularly prolific in the villages of the Karpaz
region, providing for those who live there a major source of income. During the summer
months the displays of local markets and fruit vendors are decked out with the fruit
enticing buyers with their sweet aromas and eye-catching colours. When appetites are
subduded by the summer heat and the palate craves for something sweet, cool and light
lemon fits the bill perfectly - so much so, in fact, that melon gets promoted from the
`sweets` section of the menu to the meze or aperatif, section. |
