TRNC President Rauf Denktash, Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat and Deputy-Prime Minister Serdar Denktash said UN Secretary General Koffi Annan welcomed proposal of TRNC.
”Now it’s up to the Greek Cypriots to respond positively to our proposals. Such a reply would set the ball rolling for a mutually acceptable and durable settlement in Cyprus.” – Denktash.
TRNC group said three stages of proposals were suggested but no detail was given about the matter. It was also said that the suggestions were not against the spirit of the Annan Plan but it was about the procedures.
”We found a chance to exchange views, make suggestions to change some points of the Annan Plan and hear the suggestions of the Greek side here. We are pleased with the negotiations” -Denktash.
In reply to a question about the suggestions of the Greek side expected to be proposed tonight, Denktash said he doesn’t want to make comments based on the speculations. “We are open every proposal. But we might need to stay 20 years more if exchange of proposals continues like that”.
